I can still remember the way that
Baltimore looks in the rain,
Sometimes i can still taste the chill
of a snowflake melting on my tongue
and i'll never forget the magic that
a jar of fireflys brings to a dark bedroom.

but maybe it's my lack of sleep
or maybe i'm just homesick
either way these are the things
that haunt my mind tonight.

Then I think about my fears
the secrets that I hold dear,
you know, I used to be a runner..
in time I've become a stayer..

I'm a settled down, and grounded girl.
both my feet are planted firmly.
I'm tucked away neatly in a corner
suppressed by a truth I hated to hear.

They say you can't run forever,
no matter how out of place you feel.

But maybe i'm just lacking sleep,
or maybe i'm just homesick.
Either way these are the things
that haunt my mind tonight.

Baltimore seems so far away, especially when it's raining... [comments] => 4 [counter] => 244 [topic] => 43 [informant] => purplestary [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Homesick

I can still remember the way that
Baltimore looks in the rain,
Sometimes i can still taste the chill
of a snowflake melting on my tongue
and i'll never forget the magic that
a jar of fireflys brings to a dark bedroom.

but maybe it's my lack of sleep
or maybe i'm just homesick
either way these are the things
that haunt my mind tonight.

Then I think about my fears
the secrets that I hold dear,
you know, I used to be a runner..
in time I've become a stayer..

I'm a settled down, and grounded girl.
both my feet are planted firmly.
I'm tucked away neatly in a corner
suppressed by a truth I hated to hear.

They say you can't run forever,
no matter how out of place you feel.

But maybe i'm just lacking sleep,
or maybe i'm just homesick.
Either way these are the things
that haunt my mind tonight.

Baltimore seems so far away, especially when it's raining...

Without being judgemental and keeping all perceptual possibilities open, you did it nicely.I liked the way you have chosen to probe into the matter.

You have some great lines.
The first verse is outstanding, taking us to the place
in the used to be, you'd like to see again. Home indeed.
