We write out these words, to say what we feel,
Its not cheesy, it helps us to deal.
A poet should be lauded, not ridiculed and mocked,
Its how we express, get our emotions unlocked.
I write poetry about my life, the things that I see and do,
Im not the only one, Im sure you do too.
I love to read other peoples work, relate to what you say,
To experience your story, to see a little of your day.
We put our feelings out there, for others to see and know,
Theyre not alone, its happened to us, be it happiness or woe.
Were a community, a family of sorts,
We reach all the worlds cities, all of its ports.
So my fellow poets, this is to say thank you,
For sharing your work, and for being to yourself, true.
So if you feel any pain, sadness, happiness or mirth,
Use this gift youve been given, a reason youre on this Earth.
