Array ( [sid] => 16747 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => This isn't me [time] => 2003-04-30 03:05:00 [hometext] => I went to a ball the other day, ball gown and everything, and i felt so out of place, and i couldn't wait to get back into my 'mask' so i could feel right again... [bodytext] => This isn't me,
This dressed up woman i see in this mirror.
Where's my black, concealing mask?
Where's my disguised i created to hide me from the world,
To protect me from what i don't want to be infected by.
I don't feel right,
This isn't me,
I'm not like them,
I don't have their natural beauty,
I'm not destined for great things,
Not destined for heaven.
Why can't i be left alone?
They've taken eveything,
There's nothing left, bar the dirty trail of misery;
Memories attatched to everything i own, eveything i have.
Why do they insist i'm worth more than i make out?
Why do they think they know what's best for me?
Why don't they just accept me, for me.
But the mirror doesn't lie,
and as i stare into the tearful eyes of the girl i see,
I realise,
I did this to me. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 267 [topic] => 32 [informant] => M [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

This is such a sadly beautiful poem. I really feel your pain. confusion and frustration. Beautiful.

I strongly felt so many different emotions all at once in this, you know how to capture the reader's attention till the very end! I liked it becasue you say it like it is, and it's real. Mirrors don't lie, but sometimes, your heart and your mind can play tricks on you, and i suggest you look into these before you turn to your mirror! That tearful girl you see, sure has a telent for writing, and i think that the mask you wear, is most likely a beautiful one!

I loved the 4th line Emily this poem invokes such misery and heartache its shocking. The emotion in this poem is so sad. Being goth is nothing to be ashamed of. Goth ppl are some of the most caring ppl I know. Its what counts on the inside and if ppl look down on you becuase of your outward appearance then its THEIR loss and THEY are missing out. Your a great person Emily I hope you find peace from your sadness soon.
