The wheel of torture grinds away incessantly.
Fuelled as it is upon diametrically opposed points on its diameter,
Power cells of Depression and Substance Abuse maintain its course.
For the hapless individual trapped within fate seems sealed and escape unthinkable.
Depression drives Abuse drives Depression drives Abuse.
The never-ending circle not only turns but cruelly diminishes in size.
Suffering in painful angst the man cries out but no-one seems to hear –
To understand the insidious cruelty bestowed upon him.
The wheel becomes a globe, a microcosm of his own shrinking universe,
Quite literally sucking the living essence from his sweating body.
Everywhere he turns is a wall and that wall is spinning, churning,
His thoughts becoming scrambled causing sense and reality to disappear.
All he can feel is despair and he despises his own submissiveness –
Berates his inability to break the cycle and empower himself.
The enemy continues on with feral exactitude, relishing its power.
Within there is a whirling vortex threatening to create a void –
A tiny world devoid of substance, form, emotion – Life.
Now crying like a child the victim curls in embryonic supplication.
With an almost audible roar of triumph the tormentor senses the end
Pursuing its prey with unholy lust crushing the body within –
A being now encased in latex covering of darkness and misery.
The end is swift, meaningless and almost unnoticed after the melee.
Such a waste.
The body now freed of its demons stares with lifeless eyes.
If only.
If only someone had cared.
