Tired of waking up,
Getting up,
feeling tired.

Scared of messing up,
packing up,
getting fired.

Scanning sweeping hands,
wishing to understand,
my lack of plans,
to counteract the onward motion of time.

Wondering why
this creature (I)
had to sit up late,
failing to abate,
watching repeats,
not admitting defeat,
and going to bed.
Foolishly denying the pleasure
(the sweet pleasure)
of resting my head,
as I sat up, drinking cans instead.
Alone.

Choosing my own foolish means of escape
into a prison of my own making.
There's no mistaking
that this is my fault.
I want it to halt.

But, I fear the alternative

I can't deny
the reasons why
I'm tired.
For, I'm badly wired,
uninspired,
in a mire,
the future's dire

for this man.

and his collection of empty cans.

The depth in this passage is stark
anyone who can relate, feels these words like their own
you have a way of taking a culpable position
and making it ok to admit to,
because you paint the picture so well that it can't be denied
well done

The inner turmoil of,'wishing to understand' our feelings and our behaviour. Strong, expressive great rhythm and structure, in a voice that can be understood and heard, what more can you ask from poetry.

My word! How ironic after all I struggle with insomnia and yet also suffer from epsteem bar syndrome which makes one struggle with the symptoms of mono and when one gets
Sick it's usually from lack of sleep. Oi vey I'm glad I can relate with someone in a sleep predicament like me even if it's metaphorical,

Most of the things I post on here are fiction. Yet, I post this and it is viewed as fact!
Am I so transparent?
I thought I hid myself well. How wrong am I!
