Mascara soaked tears left pooled along the ridges of her lips
Eyes as empty as midnight skies, she speaks in ancient tongues
Patiently waiting for the collapse of her own heart
In essence, she waits to break…and fall apart
She lingers inside the misery, hoping the arms that once used to embrace her, will somehow reach for her again….
Her skin smells of regret and she only takes a breath.…every now and then
In the corner sits a violin with broken strings, but still…she sings
She sings until her voice runs dry, she sings until there are no tears left to cry
Starving inside her own flesh she eats only the madness she revels in
The ribs of her deteriorating cage take center stage and pierce through her skin
An accordion of human sorrow laid out like a weightless veil
The breath of a midnight sun whispers against her burning bed
While the arrows through her heart echo like screams of angry transients through her head
A vase of deceased flowers sits beside the door
While a statue of the Virgin Mary weeps in the corner
The theory of death by a broken heart was no longer a theory
She waited for a love never destined to be
Now we mourn her death and the reincarnation of me

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
