To this there’s no surprise
As I clock the damn snooze button
And slowly start to rise

And I gaze into that mirror
There’s nothing much to see
Just an old familiar face
Staring right back at me

Sometimes he’ll ask me questions
If I’m only half awake
I could assume that I’m just dreaming
But his words aren’t all that fake

How much time have you spent dreaming?
You’ve fallen far beneath the shelf
Will you finally rise above it all?
Or will you soon destroy yourself?

Will you love those all around you?
Even if they let you down?
Will you erase away the hurtful past?
Or sink beneath the ground?

For today is what I gave you
And tomorrow’s far away
You must struggle forth to reach it
In this little game we play

It’s the effort to press forward
For that meaning to survive
As you seek out many answers
As you ask the question, Why?

And you’ll never just quite get there
Yet it’s all we have to give
So we may rest our souls on something
That’s the reason why we live

"How much time have you spent dreaming? You've fallen far beneath the shelf."

This reminds me of people who don't act enough and only dream or think of things. People need to act more and think less sometimes. (not blindly, but spontaneously)

Will you love those all around you even if they let you down.......I especially like this line for its challenge so easy to get into a spiral of hurt and internalisation rather than changing behaviour, great write about facing change and challenging our well established ways of living.
