diamond coated angels

In a dream I saw a face made up of angels
diamonds twinkled on their tunics eerily
the face it beckoned me towards the moonlight stables
where beautiful winged horses rested wearily
the face of angels looked up at the starlit night sky
and all at once the light extinguished as if gone
the loneliness I felt at this display, so finite
made me wonder what it is to carry on?
Faces of people once lost, they appeared before me
exhibited in the time and circumstance they had
knowing all their limitations and destiny
trapped like images on tape , it made me sad
the face broke up into a million shattered diamonds
that exploded in such brilliant colour, overwhelmed, I cried
all at once relit, celestial sphere before me
and all the horses bolted for the virgin sky
then within a blink I was somewhere most mundane
Debenhams car park at night under street light
nothing and no one around, just muted sirens
I saw a spark of something glowing orange-white
I looked, was horrified at what I saw before me
an angel, beautiful, the scene was very strange
engulfed in flames onward he walked towards me slowly
no panic, fear or pain his countenance deranged
my fear of him and what he bore, I almost panicked
but he was reassuring though the heat I felt
he asked me if I had faith for he would not hurt me
I collapsed bereft, my flesh lit in a spitting melt
I looked through eyes that all about belonged to no one
I had no form from which to survey the surround
the flesh and bones I left were there destroyed, I was gone
no longer trapped like others scurrying on the ground
