I cant be lost when I want this for him
My love heaves a serpent’s possessive coil
Warped in jealous needs, yet soldered on my purity

I must tell him to have a good time
But then I fear he would have it away from me
Distant shores on strange, rocky horizons,
While I stand hugging these icy winds

Threads of separation woven into my first January
Every time is a first from so many moments
How can I let him go, how can I let him not go?
How can I have him waking up someplace else?

My absence would parch those temples he steps into
The gods would feel the sting of our separation again
He would strain with everyone he once belonged with
But I couldn’t tell him about all this just as yet

What if all this were true for me and not for him?
What if the gods stole him away yet another time?
Would he come back more theirs than mine?
Would I die another time, orphaned by him?

Do I know to wait on impossible patience?
Wish I knew to sleep with our silent songs
Would I feel his arms reaching out for me from there?
Don’t stoke my insecurities little serpents, you devour me…
