I thought I saw you standing in the street waiting for a taxi
With a boy who must have been your son
Boy, how you have grown since last I saw you

I would have stopped to chat about the past
I would have loved to but I just went on bye
You are the past and it has passed
Know I look to the future

You’re like heavy luggage
You bring back lots of baggage from day’s gone bye
Friends you still see, old lovers and old friends I’d rather forget
To be so blunt I don’t need a reminder I was there with you
I don’t want a reunion
You’re a happy and sad memory, passed

I had it so good with you
Our friends, our crew
But it’s over, just over
I decided to walk on bye but I smiled
I think you saw it

It made me visualise all those crazy parties we used to have
I don’t miss it, but I lie to myself sometimes
I should have said “hello, how are you?”

But I’m shy and bitter, it was early, all the above plus many more we don’t want to say
So I’ll just wait till the next time if it comes
Hay we share the same planet
Where bound to see each other
We like the same things
We live in the same city, I think?
Or have you just visited for the final time before emigrating?

Why am I thinking this?
You are destroying my bliss
My reminisce
That’s what seeing the past can do to you
Send you around and around in a dizzy daze
Confusion and apprehension
Pensive, stupidity and regret
Past faces, warm embraces, withered faces
From the past

Great poem. I can really relate to it. This is exactly how I would react, of I saw this certain man.
