The sky is melting slowly
Into a lake of rippling dreams.
In a wind shaken tree a solitary pigeon is grieving.
He grieves for summer and as I watch
He moans an almost human moan.
The sheep are lonely shadows creeping.
The fields lay in a stupor of meloncholy autumn twilight.
Above the hills the horizon shifts under the weight of stars
And I wait, blending with the mist at the moors edge.
Twig and leaf are parting company,
The lake cries out under dreams I cannot comprehend

The mellow hills are resting,

captures the true essence of Autumn
somber,gloomy,shadowy,
drowned in lakes of beauty
precisely scribed passage
