I am my father’s son
Fast forward 18 years now
My life has just begun

I try to stay in order
To play it all in tune
They push me off to college
Did I graduate too soon?

Now turn into a masterpiece
Be beautiful and loved
It’s all they’ve ever dreamed of
What if I’m none of the above?

And friends is what we call them
They love us all so much
Now play just what we tell you
Or be forever judged

We want you to be happy
So do just what we say
Let us arrange the music
It will all turn out ok

For life is only skin deep
A shallow swimming pool
The prettier the better
A heart was made for fools

True love is just a sickness
An ailment of the brain
Lets have sex until we drop dead
The booze will numb the pain

This is the life worth leading
Your friends will all agree
So drink away the heartache
You don’t want them to see

Now live your life with purpose
You’re born, you live, and die
The rest is minor details
Nobody wants to see you cry

This is the truth you gave me
It’s what reality would scream
Sometimes I pinch myself and wonder
“ Is this the perfect dream?”

Sounds like my college career and my life right now actually. Good job depicting this.

Some traces of excellence to this poem with some memorable (and potentially plagerizable) lines to it. LOL
The rhyming metre is off slightly in a few places, but all in all, an enjoyable work.
Well done.
Cheers.
