A barn owl all decked out in a fine gown of white feathers.
You are wise beyond wisdom, your face all knowing, your eyes all seeing,
A still silent ghost in the still silent wood.
I am aware of your presence, perched in the high branches of a towering oak,
Aware too of your deadly mission.
You let out a sinister cry
And every tree, every creature stiffens with tension.
Slowly, like the passing of winter, you turn your head
And I am caught in the spotlight of your stare. And in that instant I know my fate.
In the dense dark of the sky a moon is happening,
A silver disk of the imagination lighting up the wood with a certain clarity.
And I sense that the moment is near, sense the softness of your sigh lifting the trees.
And now a tidal wave of fear gushes through this place,
Rushing through clearings and over pathways touching every branch and twig,
Every creature, untill at last an almost warm calm settles.
Then the moment arrives. You swoop, silent death on angel's wings,
Your talon's encounter soft fur, then with a tightening of your vice
Flesh is torn, bone is crushed, muscle pops
And you take to the tree with a trail of broken dreams. You sit high in the oak
And I am consumed by the urgency of your need.
I am yours now. Forever. just how do i describe this beauty?
emm. let's say, nature described naturally.
i love the twisting of words. you managed the feel of the poem throughout thereby denying the reader the chance of straying into fantasies.
a lovely piece.

The predator has captured its prey, heart mind and soul for eternity, a read that draws you in and keeps you there, well written
