Array ( [sid] => 159738 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The worth of a man [time] => 2010-05-10 20:42:23 [hometext] => When my doctor told me I had cancer between my heart and lung, just a few days before my 60th B'day (last Aug.) I looked at my life thru what others see and started writing accordingly but, not one pity poem, that's not me. I've accepted it. [bodytext] => I'm realistic enough to realize that I will never be in any history book, magazine, or newspaper unless I do something really great or really terrible ........ So I go about my life with my eyes on the prize and If it's His will, how far He will let me go on. I'm always thinking and sometimes I get my thinking confused with my prayers, It all runs in together but, God knows and sorts them out. He's good at it.....! This writing is just my thoughts of how I want to be remembered ...... Think about how they will remember you and live your life accordingly......?

The worth of a man

How can success be measured in a man
By the net worth of his fortune ?
By the possessions he displays ?
By the vastness of the land he owns or
by the notoriety he's achieved thru great deeds,
if only to satisfy his own ego or greed.

If I could choose something to make me successful
it would be, to be thought of as an honest man
a caring partner and father, and at the end
to have but one good friend, and a loving family
who will morn my passing and remember me ......
not as great, wealthy, or notable but, only as an honorable man.

live life for the glory of it, let every day be meaningful, cherish every moment for they will never be one like it. Such is life.

Dn't ever regret the life you have lived. Never! We only live once.

Excellent.! I thought for years that the only thing that mattered in life was to make a name for myself but after becoming ill, I realised that is the ultimate prize is life and that everyone should treasure it. Great write, great meaning.
All the best, Chris.

Hi,

To quote Burns .....
''Princes and lords are but the breath of kings.
An honest man's the noblest work of God!''

Which is, in essence, what you have said here.

An enjoyable read - my best wishes to you.

Tommy
