what went wrong?
it seems a hundred years ago
that our foundations stood tall…

Like an atomic bomb
it seems to me
all these things…
and a flash,
and a plane devoid of anything but sorrow
and dark shades of grey

Who went wrong?
I used to ask myself this question
when I or you would err,
cry myself asleep…
but whose fault is it doesn’t really matter,
no, not anymore,
just why?
is all I long to know…

This fallout, this Wrong!
so out of place!
not meant to be!
this creeping dose I cannot clean...

I used to think it was a game,
but then I realized it was real…
I used to think it was temporary,
but then I saw it was enduring…
I used to think I could make things right…

But now I see, its all screwed up tight.

And yet I still long for this answer
I so diligently myself,
refuse to reply:
why... [comments] => 2 [counter] => 147 [topic] => 65 [informant] => Obnoxious_Bread [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

I'm sure we a ll ask this question many times over in our life times. Sometimes in hind sight we get the answer we seek and then sometimes we'll never know the answer.
Great writing that we all can relate to.
Huggs, blessings,
emy

This was painful to read, as myself and I'm sure many readers, know this kind of struggle. And it always feels like there is no way out of the rubble and no answers can be found, enough to satisfy our hearts. This was very well written; pained with emotions most do not like to confront. Well done.
