[hometext] => This isn't exactly a love poem. It's a poem about wanting things to work out but they never do, because it was really never up to you to begin with.
[bodytext] => Tears well for what could have been, No do-over or take-backs, You made your present with decisions of the past Thought you could hold fast, But in the end you’re hopeless, Cast adrift and losing focus Damn those decisions of the past Lost in the in-between, Trying to make sense of miscalculations and artificial conversations Don’t fence me in Brick me in, but don’t let me see through the gate Through the little squares, I see what I could never have You were my wish, My one wish I wasted it on you Like a fish swimming up river, I try, try again God, why didn’t you make me a quitter? I will always be that fish, with a wasted wish, swimming up river But in the end I made my present with decisions of the past Thought I could hold fast, But in the end I’m hopeless, Cast adrift and losing focus Damn those decisions of the past [comments] => 2 [counter] => 213 [topic] => 73 [informant] => ToxicityOfTheCity [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => abstract )
