This will probably be one of many submissions in the months to come. [bodytext] => Out of the living room window, the two trees that dot the front yard still tower skyward.
Yellowed limestone hearts circle the base of broad trunks.
Wilted pink petals lay scattered under the spring time bush.
Orange breasted robins quarrel under the feeder.
The nest is in the branch and the sky looks like the mother's egg: fresh and bright.
The white front porches steps are dusted with rain drop specs.

Out of my bedroom window, two cottonwoods dance with the clouds.
The leaves sway like the sun twinkling on water.
Patches of dirt make ruts in the tired grass.

I step outside.

My feet crunch on pins and needles.
Shriveled raisin like cherries mark the yard under the fruit tree.
The sun beats violently on the roof.
Scorched air boils and churns over the shingles.
Fireworks crackle and pop in the distance.
My brother looks like a coal worker with gunpowder smears on his hands.
Firecrackers are wedged in browning pines. Chunks of flaky bark explode and fill the air like confetti.

We smile. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 227 [topic] => 44 [informant] => Tecnorobo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Nostalgic )

Well - I enjoyed it. Very creative, very descriptive,
full of imagery. Well done!

What a fantastic image! I felt right there with you!
"Out of my bedroom window, two cottonwoods dance with the clouds.
The leaves sway like the sun twinkling on water."
My favourite part!
