pop, crack, spit, scented pine playing its merry tune
stoke the wood, hand near face,
protecting from the sear of the flames flickering embrace
step back and scratch upon an itchy nose
scents being noticed that a dazzled memory can throw
smells of minced pie, cognac and char
dance on the palm taking the mind oh so very far
the essence of christmas, nostalgic in scent
waves of delicious odours to the nostrels are lent
pause for a time and think for what is brief
smile on face, family around, on the door hanging wreath
fingertips telling a story just to me
but the happiness surrounds, clear for all to see. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 54 [informant] => adamski [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 15 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => happypoetry )

A very charming little read!
I can smell the pine, mince pies and cognac already!
