Garlands and tinsel being neatly placed
On a beautiful tree taken from the mountains.
Magic was in the air, as snow blew onto the holly.

Sitting back in the old leather chair
Watching Christmas lights dance around me.
“Off to bed,” we were told to go or Santa wouldn’t come.
Joy in the air as we were tucked in tight
Drifting off to sleep…… until around midnight.

I wasn’t sure what had stirred me from slumber.
Was it the winter blizzard, blowing through bared tree’s?
Or maybe it was the little mouse looking for a Christmas snack to eat?
A Christmas fairy? Visiting? Playing tricks on me?
I really did not know, not for the life of little me.

Out of bed I crept, to take a look around.
Trying to figure out without making a sound.
Then I had to take a look, on tip toes out my window.
To my delight I saw through the storm
A blinking red glow in the sky.
My heart skipped a beat, I whispered, “Santa Clause and his reindeer’s”
The red blinking I could see had to be Rudolph with his big red nose shining.

Dashing from my room through the house filled with glee.
To wake both mom and dad for Santa was indeed a coming!
“Get yourself right back to bed”, is what they both had said.
Santa will know you’re awake and will pass our house by.
I did a fast check on the tall glass of milk, and cookies we set out for him
A grin on my face back to bed I went to try to fall a sleep

All of these years later that one very night does remain…….

A memory now so timeless, that special feeling that I had
While peering out my window.
Knowing Santa and his Reindeer, with Rudolph’s big red nose.
Were going to make it to our house, through a big Christmas Eve Idaho snow storm!

Nice one, Michelle! Took me right back to my
childhood. Thanks!
