Between threads of hope they attempt to flee,
unable to escape they commit suicide.
Like raindrops they scatter and then recollect,
resurrected only to become undermined.
Tainted they became nearly charcoal black,
her deceptions cast shadows that render me blind.
She prepares to attack, strategy stitched together,
like the gears of my watch, rotor blades wind.

Her arsenal immense, helicopters standing by,
launching missiles raining down like spite.
Meshing together interconnecting lies,
masquerading truth, hidden within plain sight.
What she desires is the question most asked,
she has become combustible and must ignite.
Her every action and her every word,
almost certainly pointing fingers that incite.
Indecisive skirmishes never resolved,
night after night after night after night.

The pillars collapsing and the minarets fallen,
love being rippled as if ensnared into the cascade.
Bellowing like my ability to pacify her,
her warmth concealed in the smoke grenade.
That exploded somewhere near her heart,
hiding whatever loving feelings that played.
Homage to the relationship endured,
between two lovers that were too afraid.
To admit defeat and surrender to,
what could have been, but what will surely fade.

Love will not cover the bloodstains on the wall... The speaker seems so disconnected from this woman, such that she's turned into "the enemy" and loses her identity altogether. It reflects in turn on the speaker as one caught up in the "warfare" between the two. The contrast between the precise and removed language of the speaker with this more subtle reflection of the his inevitable emotional involvement serves to increase the chaotic, desperate feel of the poem to an extreme level.

Very strong writing, with dynamic ideas everywhere. A great read, thanks.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
