Array ( [sid] => 155243 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => My Sisters Toy [time] => 2009-11-22 07:32:56 [hometext] => A poem for Lucy, my sister. Who i lost when i was 12, she was 3. [bodytext] => It was her favorite
She held onto it with her life
I remember taking it out of her hands the day she went away
Sometimes
The thoughts come back
And I long to be with you, sis
Down in the ground
Were you watch the world go by from your coffin
Watching me weep for you, so far ahead in time
Do you see our mother?
Do you see how she clings to your toy?
Just as you did
The colors faded
The eyes scratched and tired
But it’s still yours
Still the only thing I have of you
And though we weren’t thick as blood
The bond was still strong
Paintings on the wall
Videos to show me how you were
They aren’t enough
I still long for you to be here
If only you were still here
If only you were the glue to a broken family
A dying family
A dying me
Would you recognise our mother?
What would you say when you saw her?
Crippled
Broken
Laying cold on the hospital bed
But as she drifts away
As I can’t remember you at all
As my family tree crumbles
I forget who I am
I forget what I was
I hold your necklace close to my heart
I hold your memories locked up and safe
But I wish you’d come back
I wish you were still alive
I wish I wasn’t the only person in our family still going strong
A happy family
Memories that still remain
Battered and worn
But still in my thoughts
The family I want back
The sister I want back...
