mistake
of thinking once....
that maybe
this time
she'd
be worth
something....
something more than
what she'd always
been......
something more than
what had always
been taken....
by proxy
for evil
for a picture
for a lark
as a muse
as a gift....
a china doll
high up on
a shelf.....
a trophy
a possession
a past time
an after thought
a joke....
a crazy broken
damaged
little girl....
traveled the world
painted the town
rode the seas
sailed the winds
endured the fire
defeated the darkness...
and has
yet to
pay her dues....
so until then
she'll believe not
of her value or
of her beauty....
nor of any truths.....
there'll only be secrets
behind every smile....
with her passion muted
maybe it will diffuse
her spirit....
hide it from the pain....
of the reality
of her own
futility....
because
ever since
that last shred of
trust
ripped from her
heart...
She knew then she'd never
belong...
never be enough....
She'd never live
again....
never be safe...
always on fire...
always searching
for a way
to breathe....
with finally
no way to see...
she'll get lost
in that
grey cloud
of
not quite dead....
where
she's found the blue
and watched
the red flow of peace
trickle to the
glass ceiling
shattering the last
of her illusions
like her soul...
She made the
mistake of
once
thinking
that maybe
this time
she'd be
worth
something....
something different
than what she'd
always been...
She'll never make
that mistake
again....

I don't know if that first line is the first line of the poem or if it is just an author's note or description, but regardless, it captured my attention and lead me eagerly into the poem. I like how the poem is written in quick fragments, and how smoothly the poem flows. It is a very emotional write. It's a good inside look into a really broken heart. We'll always be worth something even if it seems we don't mean anything to someone else, we mean a lot in different ways. Enjoyed the read.

Well written...very strong expressions, very raw and real
when u feel so low words of hope do have an empty ring to them
Still hold on buddy...
Keep sharing and keep healing.God bless.

You write with such intense emotion, it is the best healing medicine there is!

You always touch my heart, many of your words I can relate to.

Hugs

Have a great Halloween week!
