Surprisingly soothing in the chilling silence of another moonless night
Nothing to show for my fifteenth year
Numb fingers, sore tongues; sinfully contrite

Shining eyes, sweet words
Warm hands, cold hearts
Chilled like the night
An endless cycle of bitter abandonment

At my window now
Face void of emotion, no sign of life in these silver eyes
The scent of stale cigarettes, cheap perfume, and clumsy sex
Lingering, crawling down my flesh like her deft fingers
Greeted by the familiar touch of my cold sheets
Alone, empty - home

No slumber comes to the cursed insomniac
Forced to live in the company of my own desires
As I envy the fireflies that disrupt nights shadows
She haunts this stone heart, so hollow
Lying in worship of Her innocent beauty, untouched by those shining eyes
She will never feel the empty cold

Heavy eyelids succumbing to a liquored sleep
They have not even the strength to weep
I have no one else left to blame

Goodness, this was all sorts of touching. I especially loved the lines, "The scent of stale cigarettes, cheap perfume, and clumsy sex
Lingering, crawling down my flesh like her deft fingers." I got chills.

I would definitely read this more than once.

whoa...this is a type of poem i could never ever come close to, in the way u use these solid, specific words and how they convey such a meaning like this... the pain just leaks through. a deep, heartfelt piece well written. i hope this helped clear things up for you internally.

take care

-K.Z.

Very stark. A great write that sums up the angst felt by many men especially teenagers.

It was dreadfully sad, but highly emotive. The language you used was powerful and strong and certainly got through to me; especially this bit:

'The scent of stale cigarettes, cheap perfume, and clumsy sex
Lingering, crawling down my flesh like her deft fingers
Greeted by the familiar touch of my cold sheets
Alone, empty - home'

-Phil
