Array ( [sid] => 153254 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Painting butterflies [time] => 2009-09-15 07:44:28 [hometext] => this poem is for my grandpa who was like a father to me who passed away when i was younger. [bodytext] => When its cold outside

I'll take a breath for

When the leaves change

I'll picture them in my memories

An when i do i remember the days

When a smile was a smile

A tear was a tear

Back when i thought wishing would make everything ok

An that a kiss would take the pain away

When your young you believe the world is all butterflies and rainbows

Than you grow up and realize you have to paint them yourself

Sometimes it takes a try or two to get it right

I learned this when you left

My butterflies flew away

My rainbows turned into thunderstorms

Lightning turned everything black

That last breath was the the first time i saw everything

Anything that was everything left

Thats when i realized lifes paved with pretty lies

Sooner or later everything dies

Everything except time its self

When its over for one, it starts for another

Now when its late at night and the sky is clear

I wonder what the stars are hidding

Because I've been asking the same question my whole life

An have never gotten a answer

A very nice insightful poem for your Grandpa...who i am certain would have been - probably IS proud that you have taken time out to write for him. One small suggestion - ask one of the mods to spellcheck for you before you post as there were a few mistakes and it seems a shame to post a poem dedicated to your Grandpa with errors.
Nice work though regardless.

Lovely sentiment, but it's a pity some of your attention to detail, like punctuation and grammar lets it down a little.I look forward to more from you.
