[bodytext] => In the distance...just beyond our perception There is a churning stormy sea of suffering in the mortal world: Children being preyed on by men who regard them as things concieved for their pleasure Women being knocked around by drunks Drunks being preyed upon, in turn, by muggers, pickpockets, and prostitutes who take their money Starving children by the millions wonder why they have come into the world only to raven endlessly for food and eventually perish Paralytics who pray for death to release them from their nightmare traps Lunatics in tiny cells who have done nothing to bring their lunacy on themselves Children beaten by parents in America Children in the Third World sold by parents into slavery People of all types sunken into deep depression Animals being tortured in laboratory experiments Men and women bleeding slowly, slowly to death on battlefields for causes they can no longer remember Mothers feeling their children die in their arms People dying in fires set by arsonists Elderly people sinking into senility and despairing of hope, sorry for a thousand mistakes Undefered people working in fields until they collapse People in sweatshops working as their hands bleed and their eyes burn... Suffering It's like a great discordant symphony ringing out from the world, like the klaxoning of a million cracked bells But...it does matter Despite how temporary humans are, what happens in the world really does matter What the devils and the psychopaths and the greedy do, matters Suffering gives meaning to it, suffering alone Because diminishing that suffering Modulating it Turning it into something better Yes, even making things just a little better Is worth doing [comments] => 2 [counter] => 198 [topic] => 13 [informant] => trackiller2006 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
