images blend and wash away
it feels like a poorly held note
played on violin in delay
things I based myself upon
romantic fantasies causing harm
a kind of endless sickness
for which there is no balm
the love I had learnt
young; in her warm hand
a mere daydream
a Sheppard with nothing to command
this species looks in no mirror
seeing not the reflection of itself
but into a beautiful painting
created by the minority with wealth
the artists who paint and write
the few capable of all the rest
those who wrote of a potent heart
and pass its nameless test
I’m untrained and one of them
with all of my friends dead
their unchanging work around me
can’t silence the screams in my head
I used to long for all the rest
for my heart had risen high
but the loneliness is a killer
depressed even beyond the sigh
I can see this species now
delusion with no sense of truth
based on the artists hope
it’s nothing to a bleeding youth
alone I became conscious of life
hence how I will depart
C’est la vi! I yell out aloud
good bye to your hollow art
Thus my reality finally wavers
I embrace the images fading away
Aut viam inveniam aut faciam
If I must, I’ll walk empty today.
