We've made love to each other hundreds of times
Yet I only remember a handful
And the nights when we cried, held each other so tight
Have all blurred into one and the same
The taste of your lips, movement of your hips
They've faded with each passing day
But of all of the memories I've tried to forget
How I hurt you just won't go away
There was once a time I could say you were mine
When forever renewed every day
Then I came home to you after being untrue
And my eyes were reflections of shame
I saw when you cried that you knew I had lied
Each drop an expression of pain
And of all of the memories I've tried to forget
Those tear drops will not go away
You once said to me that your love wasn't free
And required I give you the same
I was wrong to assume in your heart you'd leave room
For a man who could hurt you again
You've made a new life without me by your side
Now I'm left with the burden of blame
So for all of the memories I've tried to forget
My regret will just not go away.

Oh my, your poem hits straight to the heart. I was moved by your honesty, humiliaty, regret & wisdom.
By the second stanza, I was reaching for kleenex. I felt a connection to this poem. I to, have regrets but never in a million years could I have composed a poem that would pull strongly, very strongly, at the heart of a reader.
This is my favorite poem of the day.
