The air surrounds me, drowns me
In lost days and times gone past
So that I drift in memories
Completely lost to today

Even while I tip my face to the sky
And bathe it with cold rain
I still see every face that passed
And blood soaked into the ground
As both a tribute and a sacrifice

Are we destined to repeat these acts
Of reprisal and vanity, that one
Man may consider himself
Better than his fellows, or better even
Than anyone before him.

Could we not find more knowledge
In looking outside ourselves
Looking into the lives we try
In vain to render useless and broken
If only to make our own seem better

I pray that it is true, that I am
More than what I was when I did this
When I sat idly by while lives
Were torn apart without emotion
Simply because they could be

That one day, the sun will shine
Down on me and I will feel worthy
Of the light and grace it gives
But until then, I breathe in this grief
That suspends me where I live.

Oh, my sweet dawn. Have you heard the saying, those who do not remember history
are destined to repeat it? I believe it with all my being. We all make mistakes. We have
all (myself, unfortunately included) been in a place where we felt slightly superior.
Perhaps it was only a moment, but I believe most of us know what it is like to feel both
superior AND inferior to another human being. The trick is finding the balance between
pride and humility, you know? To learn from our own history. I battle with those two
every day of my life. Emotions can be so amazingly wonderful, but at times can be
particularly vicious.

I can say this. You ARE worthy. Whatever is past, is past. It is what we do TODAY
that will make all the difference. And, I am proof, it is never too late. ^_^

Magnificent write. Really struck me deeply. You have such a profound way
of explaining things that ends up leaving me so utterly pensive. Be kind
to yourself.

*love and hugs*

This , my dear, is one hell of a poem! *chin drops in awe* That's about all I've got to say for now.
