One is a dirge, the other a song
For the things that I would, I invariably don't do
And what's not right is what's carried through

It's a matter of time till I find the right road
To start walking the Walk and carrying my load
For I know deep inside is desire to do good
But I walk and then falter, not doing what I should

So I lift up my cross as I'm told to do
And try to stay focused, to not "muddle" through
But I'm always stopping to rest for awhile
When I should be up walking and facing my trial

Yet even with this I know what is sure
With God's righteous Law I joyfully concur
What a frail, foolish creature I turned out to be
So I cry out "Who will set me free?

“It is finished”, He cried, and completed the task
To receive all I need, I have only to ask
But I can't fight a fight that's already been won
That's the ultimate insult to God's holy Son

Yet loves me He does, no escaping that fact
If I truly believed it, I‘d never look back
Can I lay it down in surrender, in peace?
And allow the Messiah to live life through me?

What an absolutely lovely poem. You took a touchy subject for some and have just created such a loving piece. You may stumble, you may rest, but you, my friend are walking the walk.

May He bless you and yours.

I agree with Loende, this is truly beautiful, and is full of advice and guidance, too. But then, Romans is pretty good for guidance. :)

Well written, the last two lines really do say it all.

God Bless,
Phil xxx
