There from the beginning,
nine or ten years old
passing a blunt around,sipping on a forty,
talking trash with Spanish Louie,
‘first in our crowd to turn to junk’.

You knew how it would end.
Nodding out on those first free
skin pops of heroin in the alleyway
about twenty feet from where
he was found him head bashed in.
Most likely trying to
beat someone who wasn’t
at all sympathetic
to his life of woes that led him
up to that transaction,
that no doubt.
He was so damn positive
was gonna go down
in his favor
like all those before.
You knew how it would end. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 244 [topic] => 66 [informant] => fanniesson [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => drugabuse )

what a sad rememberance & a painful reality for far too many who take a turn & find
themselves slave to a way of life that leads to death, or the wish thereof. your write atests
to the simple introduction of an altered state & exceleration of difficulty, lost values, suffering
& misunderstanding on every level. not to mention brain damage, emotional upheavel,
a no way out perception & the constant lure of what ever substance of choice. I'm sorry for
your lose & feel that if we leave this life something awaits us to substantiate Gods' plan
elsewhere. I don't know where we go but I'm feeling like sometimes we're free of ourselves
here. your wrtie is very good in its' simplicity & conveyance. peace. elle
