Watching people as they go, big trucks rolling, big trucks parking.
People in their cars scurry to and fro soon lost to thoughts, of long ago.

A time when life seemed simple and the sky a perfect blue.
Summers seemed to last forever, friends and family always the rule.
Fishing on a grassy bank, warmed by summer sun.
A soft and comforting feeling of peace when the day was done.

A time when locking doors was null, and people knew their neighbors.
When kids were safe within confines of their schools,
and strangers weren't really strangers.

Within the time of there and now so many things have changed.
Even over the past several months, life so rearranged.
I sigh out loud and I miss some things and some people too.
The rain is falling on the windows still, not much at the moment to do.

Embrace the favorite memories and try not to think of things hurtful.
Try to release the longing for some, that have gone astray.
Wash away the color of blue that tries today to hold my heart.
The rain is falling upon this big truck window still, lost to times astray.

You're a woman who's a trucker, I'm a guy who's a registered nurse. We have similar interests, however, in writing.
This is one of the most beautiful and thought provoking poems I've ever read...and you wrote it, Michelle. You have the ability to write wonderful stories. Keep reading, writing, and trucking. Maybe I'll see you on the road sometime.
