I know that youve had it harder than me
Though in harms way, across the sea
Despite what is fraught and lurking near
Ive never known your kind of fear
Our childrens eyes when asked is Daddy gonna be alright?
Sweet lies you must tell them when you kiss them good night
Not knowing yourself if all would be well
Long years I condemned you to this living Hell
Living as Widowed, or one that Id smite
Though I kiss my pillow and wish you good night
My love a torment that youve well endured
Has left you with emotions that are inured
And if I should die here, lonely and alone
Perhaps its my spirit that will find its way home
And find a place near you to rest my head
On my cold empty side of our very own bed

I enjoyed this poem as it brought back memories
of a lifetime ago in another war, from my Army
days as an M.P. My son just joined the Navy
and I am so proud of him. I thank all of you
who are serving our country, whether in uniform
or in a Civilian Capacity. Bullets don't distinguish
between the two. Great write!

It's hard on both sides of the ocean.
Lord knows this. Unfortunately, It's a price someone has to pay. You know that I have so much respect for you. Not just because of your career. The man you are truly impresses me. I can't type anymore for now...
But you know my ears are always open to you...
