Afraid

Contributed by Blake on Tuesday, 7th October 2008 @ 06:52:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

hes afraid of the blade
but not the knife
hes afraid of taking control
of his own life

hes afraid of getting started
and what comes after being done
hes afraid to change his point of view
for fear of what he might become

hes afraid to hear the whisper
for the secrets he might find
hes afraid to look behind himself
for the truth can be unkind

hes afraid to laugh at misery
for the tears that might respond
hes afraid to look at the face of pain
for fear he might grow fond

hes afraid of being bad
hes afraid of being good
hes afraid to speak his mind
and be misunderstood

but I can feel hes growing stronger
cant hold his breath much longer
I feel he might be changing
to catch a world thats rearranging

hes afraid of the rub
thats not a touch
hes afraid of not being
afraid too much

hes afraid to live like lightning
and move in silver shock
hes afraid to set his hands free
and misrepresent the clock

hes afraid of what hes said
afraid of what hes heard
hes afraid of the connotation
of a dark four-letter word

hes afraid to glance toward heaven
and by chance create a god
hes afraid to laugh at sorrow
for fear that someone might applaud

hes afraid of looking forward
hes afraid of looking back
hes afraid to look into his soul
and peer between the cracks

but I can feel hes growing stronger
cant hold his breath much longer
I feel he might be changing
to catch a world thats rearranging

Blake,

Being afraid is something most go through.
Being able to be the person you are, is not
only a relief to the soul but also makes you
a stronger person. Be who you are and be proud. great write........Mike
