No one noticed the signs how could we miss?
I'm sorry if your cries for help were ignored
But it seemed you had it all, didn't hear your call
For help!So I suppose drinking
Seemed a quick fix,but you were sinking.
I miss you my friend your dry sense of humour.
The first one to start and then stop a rumour
Your sense of adventure always the first to try
How I wish you'd confided,why didn't you why!
The gap in my life will never be filled
Remembering you and the day you were killed.
Not by a bullet, knife or disease
But by the bottle, explain to me please
How could you leave us family and friends
Guilt ridden,empty no sight in the end. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 266 [topic] => 55 [informant] => Lilymaemax [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

Oh Lily, this is painful. I mean it actually hurts to read. There are no easy answers
when tragedy such as this strikes. I have seen with my own eyes what this can do
to someone. And they don't always share our vision. It is sad, yes but nothing we
do can help unless they first recognize the problem and seek our interference. (I
say that with the utmost compassion and respect). Your piece literally brings tears
to my eyes. I wish this reality were not so for both you AND your friend. My heart,
thoughts and hope go out to you. May you find strength and understanding.

Each of us carry a flame. And it is our duty to carry the flame of friends and
family when they no longer can. May I say, you hold your friend's torch high.

with respect,

~ Breezy

It is amazing yet so sad how many reach for the bottle as a "quick fix" to all their pain.
As you pointed out, how easy it is for us all to miss those cries for help until it is too late
As the others have said here....sorry for your loss

Steve
