I ventured out today at three in the morn
Off in the distance I heard a fading car horn
The streets were eerily filled with fog
A few blocks away was a barking dog

This morning I am walking on the road less taken
Visiting my past and those days that were forsaken
It all quickly becomes so crystal clear
Why I keep them hidden away, yet they are so near

Each one a reminder of the days I cannot relive
Of the pains I have endured, never to forgive
How could these things have happened to me?
Better yet, how has this shaped me into the man you see?

I have strolled to the place where even angels fear to tread
Exploring the dark canyons deep inside of my own head
Demons and deceit and hatred abound
Death and sadness cast their shadows all around

Is there anyone who holds the light?
To brighten the way and make things right
Does anyone dare to enter this domain?
When the fog lifts what will remain?

Yet another brilliantly written piece. And the last stanza...a question I ask myself all too often.
You have done yet again a fine job.

I am also curious as to what will remain after the fogs lifts for me...
