Maybe I’ve never lost a friend or a lover
Maybe I’ve never lost a spouse.
But I know what it feels like
To see both my parents die in our house.

Maybe I’ve never felt the pang of loneliness
That you write about so well.
Maybe I don’t know what it’s like
To exist within a shell.

Maybe I’ve never felt alone like you.
Because I’ve known love all my life.
But I know the pain of losing a baby
And being a childless wife.

I know how much you are suffering
That much I can understand.
But it wouldn’t hurt too much
To accept a helping hand.

So maybe if I seem a bit insensitive
Or perhaps appear to no longer care,
Know that it’s only because
I, myself, am trying to hide a tear.

This is a great write Jenni. It is nice to know people are here to help us, but we must also remember that they may be hurting and in need of some help themselves.

Those of us who have been your friend for years do know how much you care Jen. You have always had a way of making the pen sing your hearts song. For that and many other reasons is why I just love the heck out of you my sweet sweet Jen.

Hugs

beautiful poem
