Of life and love and feelings too
The answers came from spiteful song
But friends, my knowledge was dead wrong
You see when I was just a boy
I took to things which stifled joy
So easy to quash the pain inside
To swallow, bottle; then to hide
And through all this my anger grew
I let it fester, let it stew
Let it root from deep within
Let it temper my thin skin
Life was just a waste of time
A mountain I didn't want to climb
And love? HA! Love was a joke
Twas only good for ego stroke
So simple to feel nothing true
Except for anger - this I knew
Anger towards the world of man
Towards parents, friends, and God's great plan
Irate for what I had become
A spiteful brat who's life was glum
But time it seems is what I needed
To grow, to mull on words unheeded
So now I'm older, not by much
I've learned tough things from rage and such
In this world there's just one thing
Which makes us laugh and makes us sing
That forces tears and sorrows deep
Or gives reason to wake from sleep
It brings us jot or shows us grace
Sometimes it spits right in our face
It warms us like a winter glove
My friends, that thing is simply love
I wish I'd known when I was young
Of what love's power could have brung
And so I say to all you teens
Who think ends justify the means
Please don't dwell on what you hate
Show other's love and you'll be great [comments] => 4 [counter] => 335 [topic] => 25 [informant] => jesusofholland [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )

Reading your poem reminded me of when I was young, I hated the world and all that was in it. With the years I found love. Love is a much better power to embrace it sorts out all kinds of problems, Now at the ripe old age of eighty I know that love is the only answer. I wish you well Soapy.

This is one of the best I've read that I can remember.
Not only the message that it tells, which
many of us can easily relate to, but also
how awesome it flows. Great work!
