Array ( [sid] => 140856 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => women In The Dark [time] => 2008-03-08 04:20:41 [hometext] => I dedicate this poem to all my poetess friend here on YPDC. (International women’s day celebration. March 8th 2008. ) Please open up your hearts for the cause. Use your mighty pen to illuminate. [bodytext] =>
A hoarse cry from the horizon, perhaps
a feeble animal hunted, or a vulnerable
woman ravished, hard to say in the dark
she stays, so is the world she tearfully prays.

A world that counts her head alongside
the riches of livestock, butchered when pleased,
offered when desired, traded when needed,
woman is she? hard to say, in the dark she stays.

Centuries gone-by, yet she stays in the dark, Finding
hard to say her word of anguish or a simple wish, relinquishes
her dignity for the offspring that lay, who later decides,
her fate, to stay or to slay, too dark it’s, so hard to say.

A few women today walk head held high
among men, with mighty pen; yet,
women in the dark still pray, for you to
say aloud, her dark plight in the light.

You, women of this day, dwell beneath the light heed not
to her birthright, to fight darkness, for a spot of light?

my dear friend, when you have something on your mind, you never fail to
express it with utmost reverence to subject matter and complete respect
for the survival thought. It is obvious to anyone who reads this, that
this particular matter is deeply felt. I am aware of very little that goes
on in your country, but I am glad to have you educate us on the cruelties
that still abound, no matter how much we think they are changed.

Thank you for this and thank your for you tender and eager heart and soul.

respectfully,
~Breezy

Cara Mia Franco,

This poem speaks to my heart on so many levels and it is universal in the darkness of life that surrounds so many woman. Woman of darkness are praying and praying for those who have or still keep them in this darkness...Shadows that move in muted voices on this earth.

Love'
Linda
