When something happens to take it away
It starts very slowly and I try to ignore it
Much to my dismay, I have to admit
It is there in my body and won't go away
Unfortunately the same as any other day
I just want to sit and peacefully sew
It's taking me over, this much I know.

Listening to music and doing my sewing
The feelings inside me are slowly growing.
"Be strong, don't let it take control!"
I try hard to fight it with all my soul.
My fingers won't go where I want them to,
"Don't let it get the better of you".
My peace was shattered again today
By the shaking disease that takes it away.

I feel like a pianist without his hands
My body won't do what I demand,
Just as the singer who has lost his voice
I have to give in , I have no choice.
Like an artist without his paint
Stop what I'm doing, no complaint.
A gardener is lost with nothing to plant
I try to carry on but realize I can't.

I know this will happen every day
But when it happens I feel the same way
I am not here feeling sorry for myself
Again my sewing gets put on the shelf,
I'll find something else to occupy me
Without this inside me, how would life be?
I'm not complaining if I simply say
"My peace was shattered again today".

This poem speaks of a person who has inner strength. Someone who temporarily has her peace shattered, but finds away to carry on and in so doing her peace is restored. I know what its like to have sickness and disease steal from you the things you love to do. But God shows us new things to focus on....like poetry. You are very expressive and so talented. Great write!
