When pieces of mind begin to fail
Memories lose their detail
It all becomes a blur
I don't remember who you are or what you were
Your face is soon forgotten
Lost in the past
And every failing piece
Is another image that won't last
Those previous moments fade away
And all that's left are the seconds of today
All the lessons learned
Are now bridges burned
Turned to ashes and blown away
These are the pieces of mind that have begun to decay
Fail and fall
Losing touch with it all
Forgetting the pain and all that strife
It's as if today is the first day of the rest of my life
Breaking apart inside my mind
Leaving my memories of you misplaced and left behind
Perhaps it's because you were so unkind
That this is the only way
The only way to break away
From the darkened state you left me in
Dying within the sadness
Drowning inside the sin
But some way somehow
It's all over with now
Because when the pieces of my mind began to fail and fall away
You were forgotten, and I was okay.
