Array ( [sid] => 138418 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Tick [time] => 2007-11-11 03:11:28 [hometext] => One leaf of millions yet one heard profoundly by my soul! [bodytext] => "Tick"

Today as I was hunting
In the late autumn wood
Sitting in a tall maple tree
Contemplating life was good

A single leaf caught my eye
As it fluttered to the ground
As I heard the little "tick"
I thought, "How profound"!

Through all the growing pains
Of hard northern springs
Through frost and thunderstorm
Tenaciously to life the little leaf clings

Day by day it grows
An integral part on which the tree depends
Basking lazily in summers warmth
Happily the little leaf spends

The days of it's life
Happy and content
Unconcerned the day will come
When its time is spent

Today was that day
And now as I write
I can't help but remember the little leaf
Upon the forest floor tonight

"Oh little leaf of the maple tree"
"You did not live in vain"
"For even now I hear"
"The echoes that remain"

"That little "tick" I still hear"
"Reverberates through my soul"
"Reminding me the time is near"
"When I too shall know"

"That spiraling downward arc"
"Unto a resting place upon the ground"
"I wonder if my little "tick"
"Will be nearly as profound"

"Because of you I mark my time"
"Flutter a little more urgently in the wind"
" Am a little more aware"
"Soon my time comes to an end"

"Will anyone care?"
"Anyone notice at all? "
Will anyone even hear
The "tick" when I fall

"Oh little maple leaf"
"As I wipe these tears away"
"Think not your little "tick"
"Wasn't heard today!"

Profound thoughts inspired from one of life's regular occurrences. Very well written with a message so clear.
