Dads Song
I was just a wee little lad, playing ball with my brothers and dad, good times could always be had, hes being with me and Im glad.
Those were such innocent days, playing in innocent ways, living and learning life, learning and living life, learning how to play the games.
Woke me up in the morning twilight, singing; boys ya better make flight, cause were going to the fishing hole, Ill show you how to bait your pole.
Tickling me till I nearly cried, taking me for a piggy back ride, said; boy you better hang on, cause this ride is gonna be long.
Gave me my first ball and bat, gave me a glove and got me my hat, said: boy ya need to learn to swing the bat and to run, gotta learn to catch the ball and have some fun.
Taught me how to tell right from wrong, taught me what is weak and whats strong, said; boy ya gotta always try to do what is right, even though it means your gonna have to fight.
Helped me with my homework at school, showed me how to use his slide rule. Said; boy ya gotta learn how to read and try to spell. If ya want to play the game of life and do well.
Those were such innocent days, playing in innocent ways, living and learning life, learning and living life, learning how to play the games.
Im older now with my own little lads, miss playing ball with my brothers and dad, just happy for the good times that we had, though hes gone hes still with me and Im glad.
