step up, fall down.

One step across the line
in the direction where consequence finds
the hidden truth that succumbs to the
rapid waves of habits' lingering sound.

Flank the flak and jump the wall,
running towards a call - that is faint
like the light of a match on a distant
island.

Perceive... Believe?
Success... Achieve?

Distortion in the actions,
disruptions in concentration,
catering for inflation
of epidermic proportions we
consider normal...

In our everyday lives.

300 steps on the staircase
leading to a place above the clouds,
where we are free to allow
ourselves to be found.

Step by step, day by day,
throw in the towel and
pick up the shovel to dig your own grave. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Kellros [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Kellros,

I found many different understandings in this work. First off amazing job ! Seondly, no matter what this poem's truth is you outlined your damn fine poetic skill.

Either A you are comparing us to army ants or you are literally talking about the army (or some branch of the military). I can't educatedly elaborate on the latter though my father served for over 20 years. Yet I can agree that we are all "army ants". Unfortunately this is the truth. We seem to be living a routine of "dance monkey" until death. Yet the moments we are not asked to dance we should find ways to keep our routines unroutined and as potently important as possible.

Damn good poetry !
