sent from the heaven above
an angel came.
his wings transparent, covered with silver dew
his eyes innocent blue.
so delicate, so fragile, he walked across the land.
his way covered with thorns,
his feet with dirt,
but what he saw really hurt.
pride, envy and vanity
everywhere he looked
greed, anger and lust
have turned his dreams to dust.
no longer innocent
his eyes turned dark and grey
his heart pounding, taking in the pain
wanting to go back from where he came
but something held him back
he realized he was not the same
and it might be a shame
to fall and to fail
so he made his choice
there was only one way
not to hurt and not to be hurt
he threw his shattered wings in the dirt
