With whispered kisses on my calves,
Red clover, buttercup, wild thyme,
Gently bequeath your healing salve.

The birds ascending from the fields
Cannot now stir once restless wings.
This meadow stretches, hazy-edged,
Held in the lustrous gold dusk brings.

Lie by my side, please, won’t you dear?
Transcend eternity for love,
Come back from that horizon where
My soul was cloven from above.

Just one last summer of pretence,
To spend alone on Earth with you,
I’ll cling on through the night till dawn,
Until your body fades to dew.

Well for imagining the loss, you have conveyed this really well. It was truly a beautiful write. The meadow was absolutely lovely in my mind's eye.
Peace, Laura

I'm glad you explained that very last line cause i must admit i was near tears with
an uncertainty in my stomache. A beautiful poem indeed. Plenty of mixed emotions and vivd seasons to cling to. simply a nice peice of writting.

thank you by the way for the congradts, 'twas a hell of weekend speaking of tears . . . of joy of course . . .

Well felt in every essence of your write. Flows like a gentle river of emotional nature caressing life itself.

Dom, my friend, this was gorgeous!

I loved the imagery through the poem's entirety, but I
simply ADORE the last stanza, especially the last line.

Bravo poet. Well expressed in such a tender, loving and sweet way.
