Array ( [sid] => 133890 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Uninvited [time] => 2007-04-28 03:08:06 [hometext] => Been too long folks!!!! Hope you like!!!! [bodytext] => You walk through my door uninvited;

The same way you walked into my life,
Looking back on it, now.
I suppose it’s a good thing too, if you’d have waited,
Waited for me to offer,
You would have been stood in the cold for a long, long time.

Too young for regret, or so others tell me;
Don’t think I could ever believe in it, anyway;
They’re empty promises, futile wishes;
Like souls without dreams.
Something not quite half-formed, but there anyway.

I’d wonder where you’d go, sometimes;
When you were absent; with me but not.
I was never enough to tie you to the present,
That far away look that would drift through your senses;
Something, or someone, pulling you back to the past.
Or maybe forwards, towards something new.
Someone new.
Just not me.
It wasn’t that we never loved;

We loved enough, maybe too much,
This realisation dawns on me as I watch you pace the floor.
Offering words, that my mind can’t form into phrases, sentences.

Need.

Love.

Hope.

The opposite of regret.
Or is it?

A hope is a wish, and so is a regret.
You wish you’d done things differently, you wish that this would happen.
Maybe they can’t exist without each other.
Despite their differences, they need each other.
Like I need you.
I wish that you’d need me.
Oh.
Wait.
You just said that you do.

Good to see you back and posting again. This is a good write, very "in your face" so to speak with your emotions. Powerful. The last line nailed it.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

when i saw the title for this, i immediately thought of alanis morissette
then when i read this exquisite write, i found a deeper message
i, like all others, extract a different meaning of each singular poem
this particular poem broke it down for me
let me see things differently
gosh love has more twists and turns than expected and you just added another one, which isnt entirely too bad
ya know?
thankies for posting
