Skeletons in my closet

Rasping their knuckles on the walls

Tearing me from the inside outward

One by one they reach the knob

As the steepest darkness prospers forth

My joyous light dwindles on

Eventually consumed by monsters

Once contained behind my facade

Nothing to kill them, No one to stop them

Grimmest thoughts pollute my heart

Angels choking on the ash

Of intoxicated inhibitions

Throbbing pain within my skull

The specters eat away at my soul

It's too late to mend this

The parasites have reached the door

My sanity has deserted me

Soon engulfed by the fog of death

Leaving me to fend them off

A futile attempt to exist

How much longer must I struggle

I wish it all just would end

Without you my love by my side

I wish it true that I had died

Not again perturbed with visions of

Happiness, Romance & Satisfaction

I can once and for all

Make the final transition

But my heart a renegade

Insists I still have a chance to be happy

But it too will soon learn

Happiness is just a myth

My fragile mind breaks on impact

When it collides with reality

I have come to realize

The path of love leads to sorrow

She is divine: I am flawed

She is pure: I am toxic

She is my love: I am no one

She is not mine: I am damned to walk alone

You know what? I really dug this write...not usually into the dark stuff but your title totally intrigued me. The write was good. Your word usage relates well, what your feeling.....and after reading, I see the title fits well. The ending to the piece just drove it in like a spike through the heart. You make the reader feel the damage done. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Peace, Laura

Your right love always leads to sorrow no matter what. It may be happy for a while but then it'll turn bitter. Good work I really liked reading this poem.
