Array ( [sid] => 129435 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Ghosts of Christmas Past [time] => 2006-12-15 09:29:15 [hometext] => I wrote this song while watching A Christmas Carol and wrapping presents for my kids shortly after my divirce was final. The recorded song is at www.scottjeffreymusic.com [bodytext] => Another bottle nearly empty
Another fine merlot
Another fire slowly burning
Another newly fallen snow.

Another reason to find solace
At the bottom of a glass
Another night I’m being haunted
By my ghosts of Christmas past.

Thumbing through old photographs
I stashed way back in a drawer
A lifetime of frozen images
Spread out across the floor.

I’m reliving old sentimental scenes
My heart is beating fast.
Tonight I’m being haunted
By my ghosts of Christmas Past.

Outside I hear you calling
and that lonesome north wind blow.
The snow just keeps on falling
And deep inside I know
My life’s a faded photograph
that time will certainly outlast
All my transgressions resurrected
By my ghosts of Christmas Past.

At night this old house whispers
when everything is still.
Like the silent snowfall drifting
All along my windowsill.

I’m living in your memory
And in the shadows that it cast.
I guess I’ll be forever haunted
By my Ghosts of Christmas Past

{BRIDGE}

Another fading memory
Another glass of wine
Another life ago
Another place in time
Another reminiscent smile
Another thought, another tear
Another Christmas Eve without you
Another month
Another year……

My shallow lies and alibis
And a tarnished wedding ring
It’s strange how something
That meant nothing
Could cost me everything.

Last night you fell into my arms
But dreams just do not last
They fade away in shades of gray
Like my ghosts of Christmas Past

Whew, and ouch. This one packs a killer punch... Sad, but strangely beautiful... we're all haunted by ghosts, and ironically, this time of joy to all men and peace on earth makes them a little more prominent... I liked it, it grabbed me by the heart and didn't let go until long after I'd finished reading,
