Solitude held me dear
I befriended my own isolation
To sit for hours on end
With no alarm to go off
And no one to shake me
“Wake up”
I was never asleep

Falling faster
I tried to grab at nothing
Reaching for a hand
That never appeared
As I dissipated into darkness
Fading into the pit
The despair I let myself drown in
The distance I could not run

I looked skyward
There was nothing
The clouds were of smoke
The sun just a bulb
Stars had fallen
And the moon was a coin
The notorious laughed at me
“You won’t be anything”

The last stanza is very dark. I really liked this poem. It flowed well and showed a deep darm emotional theme.

Well Done

Nathan

I befriended my own isolation.
If I did'nt know you had written
this I would swear I had just
read my own autobiography.
Very powerful and hard hitting
to us who know of such things.
What is there to do when there is
nothing left for you. I fight on just for
the hell of it. lol. You have captured
this subject well. When I found I
had no hope I looked to Odin and
Norse mythology and there I found
a purpose. Good luck , great writing.
Truly , Doug

Enjoyed reading this, very dark and expressive. I like it how you use bits of direct speech in your poems, maybe cause I do that too, heh.I think a lot of people can relate if they're honest enough with themselves.

Been in that place too often. it's always there, no matter how old you get. I said 'Whoa' when I read this. Well written, with a word choice of personal experience, not a poetry dictum.
