Yet your image is defused and difficult to see.
Certain features are unclear,
and I have no photographs to which I can refer.

If only I could see you again,
perhaps for just a moment.
I can still hear your melodious voice,
as it echoes within my mind.

Your scent continues to linger
like the fragrance from a bouquet of fresh flowers.
But how I miss your presence;
our remembered loving embrace.

I long to caress your lovely face
even though your memory fades.
I still experience the pain as if it were yesterday.
No medicine will remove this heartache.

Yet, the pain is a reminder to me
of how wonderful our life used to be.
And even with your passing,
I still experience your essence within. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 249 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

Oh, wil .. this is so sad, and yet so beautiful all at once.

The last stanza is nothing less than stellar, my friend.
Such a barrage of emotion, longing and sweet
remembrance here.

I am reminded of why I love this place so much, and
how I miss it so, when life takes over and occupies
all my free time. :( So glad you shared this one.
It's completely stunning!!

*hugs*

(so happy to have had SOME time for this tonight!)

Lost love is probably the most popular category on this site. Or maybe it’s my biased opinion, because it’s all I seem to read. With only positive criticism in mind, a fair percentage of this site’s applications are pretentious and typecast. But yours was so authentically heavy-hearted and full of such rich imagery. I was slack-jawed by the end. I know it’s doesn’t seem cliché if you’ve lived it, but the synonyms seem to run dry in this genre. It’s nice to see genuine submissions like this one.

Oh Will, Hugs you tight. I so miss you when you are away. Your wisdom, your pieces of life and memories. Gosh, I am a sucker for the human being and it's constant journey through pleasures and pains. This was so beautiful but so sad. It really touched me. I could so smell the perfume....wonderful as always my dearest friend.
Take care and much peace,
Laura

That saying "Time heals all wounds", which is obviously intended to offer comfort, never really 'worked' for me. Some wounds, really, shouldn't ever be 'healed', least not entirely, I think. For that reason, the second and third line of the piece (and others too... like "even though your memory fades") absolutely tug at me. Forgive me for rambling on and saying so, but I think it is both scary and really rather sad that we can and do move on when life forces us to... that we forget some things... that the passage of time blurs the mental images now long past and causes memories to fade. It's the romantic/poet in me, perhaps... I simply wish to love those I do in a way that is unchanged by loss or time. I want to believe Love is lasting and stronger than any other thing - time, circumstance, whatever. That I might not be able one day to clearly picture a loved one's face with my mind's eye is a potential I don't wish to accept, you know? The thought alone is altogether too sad to tolerate.

Though it's bold of me to say so, this piece leaves me inclined to think that you feel similarly (perhaps we all do). There is clearly an expression of the love that remains, but there, too, felt to be a sadness of the effects of time embedded here. This piece moves me very much because it could be debated as to whether it 'fits' in the "lost love poetry" category... the love hasn't been lost... it is, sadly, the intended and all the beautiful things that came of them that have been. I honestly can't imagine that there is anything more painful.

My thoughts are with you...

~Snem

I am a loss for how to describe the feelings that ...suffice to say you have indeed echoed something similar within me.
Lost loves...the pain is soooo bittersweet.....ahhhhh
